RTO services go online in city from today

Mysuru, May 25 (RK&NNN)- Most of the services in the Regional Transport Office (RTO) including the application for Learner’s Licence (LL) and Driving Licence (DL) in the Mysuru Division that includes the districts of Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu, is going online from today.

The online application window, Sarathi-4, was first launched in some of the RTOs in Bengaluru in February-March. “Seeing the positive response, the Department decided to extend  the facility to Mysuru and as a result we started the online service from today,” said RTO West M. Prabhuswamy, speaking to Star of Mysore here this morning.

Though the application for LL and DL was online under the previous version of the software Sarathi-3, the applicants had to fill the details online and also submit a physical copy of the documents. The applicants were also required to visit the RTO for signing the document.

“In Sarathi-4, such issues have been dispensed with, except going to the RTO for driving test evaluation. Another main reason is to minimise the intervention of middlemen and bring in total transparency in the issuing of LLs and DLs,” said  Prabhuswamy.

In the new software, the applicants can sit at home and apply online for DL and even the  fees can be paid online. There will be 15 questions which the applicants have to answer and out of that if they answer ten questions correctly, then one can pass the test otherwise it will be rejected, he said.

There are 40 driving schools in the city and the Principals of these schools have been trained how to apply for the LL and DL for their clients online. The following are the services available online: Change of address (Migration of DL), Renewal of DL, Issue of Duplicate DL, Additional endorsement of DL and a few others.

To apply online, one can go to the website www.parivahan.gov.in/parivahan, where all the details are available.
