Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru Book Clubs Charitable Trust hosted the release of Sita Bhaskar’s English book ‘Rukmini Aunty and the R.K. Narayan Fan Club’ in city on Nov.30.

The event was made special by 11-year-old Aeshanrudra Urs, who had filmed a video around R.K. Narayan Museum in Yadavagiri when he was just six and who formally released the book.

During the programme at Hotel Metropole, Sita Bhaskar presented her ideas in English, while Nalini Chandar offered a dramatic interpretation in Kannada.

Mysuru Book Clubs Charitable Trust Chairperson Shubha Sanjay Urs noted that Sita Bhaskar, who has returned from the US and now resides in Mysuru, is a sensitive writer capable of expressing serious thoughts with gentle humour.

She added that Sita Bhaskar has long been fascinated by R.K. Narayan’s residence, which was later converted into a museum.

R.K. Narayan (RKN), the celebrated Mysuru resident, immortalised city’s people, atmosphere and culture in his unique style. Sita Bhaskar’s book, written in a fictional narrative, pays tribute both to RKN and those responsible for preserving his Yadavagiri residence as a museum.

Trustees Kitty Mandanna, Thankam Panakal, Vinay Prabhavathi and others were present on the occasion.
