Run to remember Puneeth on May 1

Mysore/Mysuru: Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES), in association with Manav Trust, has organised a 5-km run to remember late actor Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar and to mark Labour Day with an awareness theme ‘Go Green, Go Clean’ on May 1.

Announcing this at a press meet at Chamundi Vihar Stadium this morning, DYES Assistant Director K. Suresh said that the run will be flagged off at 6.30 am from Chamundi Vihar Stadium and will pass through SP Office, Hardinge Circle, Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, New Sayyaji Rao Road, Kote Maramma Temple, Bengaluru-Nilgiri Road, Police Commissioner’s Office, Nazarbad Circle and culminate at the starting point. District Minister S.T. Somashekar and former cricketer Javagal Srinath will be present.

Medical assistance will be provided by doctors from Narayana Hrudayalaya to the participants. There will be no entry fee and post-run breakfast will be arranged at the Stadium.

The competitions will be held in three categories — below 16 years (boys and girls), below 45 years (men and women) and 45 years above. Track and field events are also arranged for boys and girls — 60 mts hurdles and running competition for below 10 years age group, 80 mts running and long jump for below 12 years and 100 mts running, long jump and shot-put for below 14 years.
