Mysuru: As part of Dasara festivities, the Raitha Dasara Sub-Committee had organised rural sports to the farming community at JK grounds in the city on Saturday.
The event was held separately for men and women, with no age bar. The event featured gunny sack race, boulder lifting and running race carrying fertilizer sack on the back for men (75 mts); lemon and spoon race and water pot race for women.
Although the organisers waited for over a couple of hours for a good number of participants, hardly 10 participants competed in each event.
The winners – Running race carrying fertiliser sack: 1st prize – Manoj Kumar of T. Narasipur, 2nd prize – Manu of Hunsur, 3rd prize- Darshan of Periyapatna.
Boulder-lifting: 1st prize- Avinash of Mysuru, 2nd prize- Manju of Periyapatna, 3rd prize- Nagesh of Hunsur.
Gunny sack race: 1st prize- Manju of Hunsur, 2nd prize- Manoj Kumar of T. Narasipur, 3rd prize- Darshan of Periyapatna.
Water pot race: 1st prize- Malini Harish, 2nd prize- Kavya, 3rd prize- Devaki Prabhakar, all from Periyapatna.
Lemon and spoon race: 1st prize- Vani Naveen of Periyapatna, 2nd prize- Sanya of K.R. Nagar, 3rd prize- Ayesha of K.R. Nagar.
