Mysore/Mysuru: In a bid to unearth rural sporting talent and to save rural sports and games that are on the brink of extinction, the city’s SMP Foundation has organised a two-day rural sports meet at Puttaraj Gawai Sports Stadium in J.P. Nagar, Mysuru, on Oct. 23 and 24.
Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, the Foundation’s Founder President Shivaprakash said that the sports meet is organised in association with Lions Club of J.P. Nagar, Aravina Mane Mahila Balaga and Manvantara Balaga. The sports meet will be inaugurated at 2.30 pm tomorrow (Oct.23), he said.
Pointing out that meet is open to all rural population from all ages between 6 and 80 years, Shivaprakash said that the meet will be held under seven different age categories. The sports meet includes about 30 contests including Frog Race, Musical Chair, Lemon and Spoon, Bucketing the Ball, Memory Test, Skipping, Breaking the Pot, Slow Cycle race etc., he said adding that over 300 people have so far registered.
Manjula Raj, Partharaj and Venkatramana Kashyap were present at the press meet.
