Mysuru: Demanding total farm loan waiver and implementation of Dr. Swaminathan report on farm prices, farmers, under the banner of Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangha, will block National and State Highways on Aug. 9.

Announcing this at a press meet here on Friday, State Sugarcane Growers Association President Kurubur Shantakumar alleged that the Governments were ignoring the real farmer issues and raking up only emotional issues only to hide their failures. After agitation to press the Government for addressing farmer issues had failed, the farmer associations will block the State and National Highways from dawn to dusk on Aug. 9 in order to force the Government to address farmer issues, he said and added that the blockade will be nationwide.

The Association office-bearers Attahalli Devaraj, Shankar, Bhagyaraj, Nagaraj, Rangaswamy and others were present.
