Basavaraju (57), formerly Assistant Branch Manager of LIC of India and a resident of Vidyashankar Nagar here, passed away yesterday.

He leaves behind his wife Parvathi Vattam (daughter of late journalist Krishna Vattam), two daughters, a son-in-law and a host of relatives and friends.

Last rites were performed at his farm house in Pillahalli near Varuna this afternoon, according to family sources.
