Mysore/Mysuru: KAS Officer S. Kusumakumari has been appointed as the new Registrar (Administration) of the city-based Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) at Mukthagangothri campus.
The Government on Sunday had appointed Kusumakumari, a 2006 batch KAS Officer, who was awaiting posting, as the new Registrar of KSOU, following the transfer of the incumbent Prof. S.K. Naveen Kumar, who has been repatriated to his home department of Computer Science, Mangalore University at Mangaluru.
Prof. Naveen Kumar was appointed as the Registrar (Administration) of KSOU just seven months ago, after Prof. K.B. Praveen was removed from the post following charges of irregularities against him. Now, with the appointment of Kusumakumari, the 2-decades old tradition of Professors holding the post in KSOU, has been broken.
Kusumakumari had earlier served in Mysuru as Mysuru Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer (EO) and as Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Additional Commissioner, from which post she was transferred a month ago and was awaiting posting since then.
