Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing KSGH Music and Performing Arts University of unceremoniously sacking them, 13 aggrieved non-teaching faculty of the University continued their indefinite protest in front of the University campus on JLB Road in Lakshmipuram for the third day today. The employees had launched the stir on Monday and today former Mayor Purushotham visited the venue in support of the protest.
Maintaining that they had been serving as non-teaching staff of the University since it’s inception, the protesters alleged that the University authorities sacked them without any prior intimation on Feb. 7, citing shortage of funds. Stating that they were appointed as temporary staff when the University was started over 13 years ago, they said that they have been serving since then and they were paid wages till early 2021. But all of a sudden, the temporary staff were relieved of their duties earlier this month and were also not paid wages for the past 10 months. Accusing the Vice-Chancellor of ignoring their interests, they urged the University to pay them pending wages and also continue their service.
Bemoaning that it has become hard for them to lead a decent life due to loss of job and non-payment of backlog salaries, they declared that the protest would continue till their main demands of payment of pending wages and continuation of service are met.
B. Manjula, Kaiser Babu, Chandrakala, Shashikumar, Premkumar and others took part in the protest.
