‘Sadhvi’ Editor Maheshwaran passes away

Mysuru: C. Maheshwaran (64), Editor of over a century-old Kannada evening newspaper ‘Sadhvi,’ passed away yesterday at his residence in K.C. Layout, Mysuru, following a heart attack. Maheshwaran, who was hospitalised, was discharged four days back.

He leaves behind his wife Mala, sons Manjeeth and Yugjeeth and a host of relatives and friends. Last rites were held at the foot of Chamundi Hill this afternoon, according to family sources.

Sadhvi  newspaper was started in 1899 by M. Venkatakrishnaiah, popularly known as Thathaiah and freedom fighter Agaram Rangaiah.

Maheshwaran, who entered the field of journalism through Deccan News, took over the reins of Sadhvi in 1995 and was running it successfully till date.

He was a recipient of the State-level Rajyotsava Award for the year 2020-21.

Mysuru District Journalists’ Association (MDJA), District Minister S.T. Somashekar, MP Pratap Simha and other dignitaries have condoled his death.
