Sir,
Mysuru, a tourist hub and a busy city throughout the year with constant flow of tourists, has two prime entrances — one is the City Railway Station and the other is our Suburban Bus Stand. No doubt the Railway Station has been upgraded several times and made easily accessible to users but the KSRTC Bus Stand lacks improvement.
I am not a tourist, but a resident of Mysuru and it makes me panic just by the thought of travelling around this Bus Stand area. The road is mostly chock-a-block with vehicles flowing from and in all directions. Added to this is the haphazard parking of inter-city buses for passengers to alight. The exit point is also confusing with all segments of Bengaluru-bound buses trying to exit the terminal and at the same time board passengers.
The parking in Suburban Bus Stand’s basement is very tedious and it is a fact that during monsoon the basement is flooded. The uncountable street vendors and hawkers aggravate the situation. This apart, the prepaid auto stand occupies free space.
All the above problems need immediate attention of the respective government department. A signal light adjacent to the Bus Stand is the need of the hour and diverting goods vehicles / trucks away from the road from Railway Station to the Bus Stand will ease the movement of vehicles, else the widening of Irwin Road will not meet its objective.
Let’s bring back Mysuru to a de-congested city.
