Sir,
I frequently commute to JP Nagar from Kuvempunagar, and the shortest route is via the Jayanagar Railway Under Bridge, which directly connects to the Road towards NIE.
The traffic congestion at this Under Bridge junction, as well as along Jayanagar 2nd Main Road, causes severe jams — even during non-peak hours.
During peak hours, there is a minimum 15 to 20-minute delay, with traffic often coming to a complete standstill. This is mainly due to motorists not yielding to others attempting to turn right or left onto Udayaravi Road or Gautama Buddha Marga from Jayanagar 2nd Main Road or Pampapathi Road.
Traffic signal lights are urgently needed at the Railway bridge junction and Jayanagar 2nd Main Road.
What’s more concerning is that there isn’t even a Traffic Police presence at the nearest signal — Adichunchunagiri Road and Udayaravi Road — to assist or monitor the situation during such jams. The problem worsens when it rains, as two-wheelers crowd under the Railway bridge for shelter, further obstructing vehicle movement.
I request the Traffic Police to take note of this issue and install traffic signals on these narrow roads to ease congestion.
