‘Sahitya Krushika’ Award conferred

Mysuru: Akhila Bharatiya Sahitya Parishat (ABSP) had organised a function at Sarada Vilas Law College in Krishnamurthypuram here recently to felicitate writer Dr. Doddarangegowda on being conferred ‘Sahitya Krushika’ Award by the Parishat.

Speaking on the occasion, Doddarangegowda opined that a good poet should be well aware of the present happenings in the world. He asserted that a poem should not be fictitious but expose the personality of the poet.

Stating that a good study is needed to come out with a poem, the lyricist observed that experience gathered in rural areas and portrayed through a poem would have a long standing effect on the readers.

He also contended that extinction of joint families was detrimental to society.

ABSP Organising Secretary Narayana Shevire inaugurated the programme. Writer M.G. Sadanandaiah felicitated Doddarangegowda. ABSP President Sathanur Devaraj presided.

In the ‘Kavi Goshti’ held later, over 20 poets recited poems composed by them.
