Sale of Remdesivir injection in black market: CCB Police arrest five accused, recover injection vials

Mysore/Mysuru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police, who busted two rackets pertaining to sale of Remdesivir injections in black market, have arrested five persons.

The arrested are 27-year-old G. Suresh, a staff nurse at a private hospital in J.P. Nagar here, 27-year-old D.M. Raghavendra  and Ashok, both staff nurses at city’s Government Hospital, 20-year-old K. Rajesh and 20-year-old D.V. Mallesh, both staff nurses at a private hospital in Vishweshwaranagar. The Cops have recovered a total of four 20 ml Remdesivir injection vials besides seizing Rs. 7,000 from them.

On May 12, the CCB Police, who conducted an operation, took Suresh, Raghavendra and Ashok into custody on Shankar Mutt Road and during interrogation, the Police came to know that accused Suresh, instead of administering Remdesivir injection given by the hospital to the patients had not given the same and with the help of Raghavendra and Ashok, the three were trying to sell the injection vials for higher rate in black market. A case has been registered at K.R. Police Station.

In the second operation, the Police took Rajesh and Mallesh into custody at Gandhinagar in N.R. Police limits and on questioning them, the Cops came to know that the duo had brought six Rendesivir injection vials given by the hospital to administer it to the patients to sell in black market for higher price. A case has been registered against the two accused at N.R. Police Station.

DCPs Dr. A.N. Prakash Gowda (Law and Order) and M.S. Geetha Prasanna (Crime and Traffic) and CCB ACP C.K. Ashwathnarayan guided CCB Inspectors R. Jagadish and G. Shekar and staff in the nabbing and seizing operation.
