‘Samadarshi’ Awards conferred to mark HSK’s birth centenary

Mysuru, Sept.3 (PM&US)- Anveshana Seva Trust had organised a function on Aug.26 to mark the birth centenary of columnist late Dr. H.S. Krishnaswamy Iyengar (HSK) at the Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road here.

Inaugurating the programme, former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia recalled that HSK had a lot of foresight on economic matters and would have been a good guide for national economy system. He said that HSK’s input on solving unemployment problems, developing education, agriculture and commerce sectors were remarkable.

Referring to the current political scenario, Sindhia regretted that rampant mud-slinging by ruling and Opposition parties against each other had degraded the morale of politics which is detrimental to a healthy society.

Writer and critic Dr. Pradhan Gurudatta recalled that HSK had come out with 43 works in Kannada and two in English.

On the occasion, ‘Samadarshi’ Awards were conferred on Senior Auditor S.K. Venugopal, Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Channappa, Chutuku Sahitya Parishat Central Committee Trustee Kerodi Lolakshi, Advocate P.G. Raghavendra, Columnist Gubbigudu Ramesh and Chutuku Sahitya Parishat (Gudlupet Taluk) President Puttathayamma.

Former Minister M. Shivanna, Ursu Jagruta Academy Chairman Dr. D. Thimmaiah, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, former President M. Chandrashekar, MCCI President A.S. Satish, ‘Koustuba’ Editor Dr. Rathna Halappa Gowda, Anveshana Seva Trust Secretary Amarnath Raje Urs, Writer Dr. MGR Urs and others were present.
