Samathentho Ranga Sambhrama: Prasanna to inaugurate 3-day theatre fest

Mysore/Mysuru: The three-day Samathentho Ranga Sambhrama will be held from Dec. 12 to 14 at Kiru Rangamandira (Mini Theatre) in Kalamandira premises here.

The theatre fest will be inaugurated by well-known theatre person Prasanna Heggodu at 6.30 pm tomorrow. He will also release  two books ‘Kuntila’ and ‘Duddina Devaru’ authored by Prof. H.S. Umesh. Theatre activist Srinivas G. Kappanna will launch the YouTube channel of Samathentho on the occasion.

This will be followed by Ranga Sangeetha and the staging of short play ‘Guri Muttu’ directed Prof. H.S. Umesh (translation of the play ‘Fulfillment’ written by T.P. Kailasam). Acclaimed theatre personality Rameshwari Varma will preside.

On Dec. 13, Lakshmi Chandrashekar Kreative Troupe will stage a comedy play ‘Gundayana’ directed by Joseph John. The highlight of the play is that 10 different roles will be enacted by two actors — Lakshmi Chandrashekar and Sundar.

On Dec. 14, Samathentho will stage ‘Duddina Devaru’, Kannada translation of Greek play ‘Plutus’ by Aristophanes.

All the plays will staged from 6.30 pm. While the entry is free for inaugural event on Dec.12, tickets for the play on Dec. 13 and 14 will be Rs. 100 each day.

Samathentho, a 59-year-old theatre group, was founded by a few friends interested in literature, music and theatre during 1967. This group has a distinction of producing new plays, introducing new actors, directors and also new genres in theatre.
