Samathentho to stage ‘Sonata’ tomorrow

Mysuru:  Samathentho troupe will present a play ‘Sonata,’ a Kannada translation by Girish Karnad of the original play in Marathi by Mahesh Elakunchavar on Mar.9 at 7 pm at the Mini Theatre in Kalamandira premises here.

Commemorating International Women’s Day, the play is  directed by Samathentho member and Theatre Artiste Rameshwari Verma.

The story of the play revolves around three middle-aged women characters who were once classmates but now live in different atmospheres but all of them are financially sound.

The three characters are essayed by Indira Nair, Shylaja Rao and Preethi Nagaraj.

The whole play is centred around a meeting of the three characters one evening where everyone of them feels that life has become intolerable. They seem to be eager to confront their past with future to evolve a solution for the present turmoil.

Interestingly, the three characters comprise a Journalist, a Sanskrit Professor and an MNC employee.

‘Sonata’ basically is one of the best compositions of German Musician Beethoven and a combination of three notes.
