Mysuru: MLA T.S. Srivatsa said that ‘Samskrita Cauvery’, a two-day State-level Conference organised by Samskrita Bharati will be held in Mysuru on Feb.1 and 2.
Addressing a press meet here on Monday, Srivatsa said that Meghalaya Governor C.H. Vijayashankar will inaugurate the Conference at Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashram premises on Nanjangud Road at 10 am on Feb.1. Mysuru Ramakrishna Ashram President Swami Muktidanandaji will grace the occasion while Samskrita Bharati State President P.N. Shastri will preside, he said.
About 1,200 Sanskrit scholars from across the State will take part in the event, Srivatsa said adding that ahead of the event, a Shobha Yatra (procession) will be taken out from Bhutaale Pitch grounds in Vidyaranyapuram to the Ashram.
The two-day event features special lectures, seminars, public interaction, expo, science expo, book sales and cultural programmes.
The Conference is being held once in three years and Mysuru is hosting the event this time.
The valedictory will take place on the evening of Feb. 2, with Samskrita Bharati All India Organising Secretary Jayaprakash Gautam delivering the valedictory address, he said.
‘Samskrita Cauvery’ Invitation Committee Secretary and Advocate A.M. Bhaskar, the Conference Convenor Dr. B.G. Bhagyalakshmi, Dr. Prabhakar and others were present at the press meet.
