Sandhya Theatre Stampede Case: Actor Allu Arjun arrested

December 13, 2024

Hyderabad: Telugu actor Allu Arjun was arrested by the Police this morning in connection with the stampede case which was reported at Sandhya Theatre during the premier show of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule.

The incident, which occurred earlier this month, had claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman and left several others injured. According to sources, Allu Arjun was taken into custody by the Task Force and was shifted to Chikkadpally Police Station.

The stampede reportedly took place after Allu Arjun’s arrival at the theatre, leading to a chaotic surge of fans trying to enter the venue. According to reports, inadequate crowd control measures and mismanagement contributed to the deadly incident.

Authorities have charged Allu Arjun, along with his security personnel and the theatre management, under various Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act for negligence and failure to ensure public safety.

Allu Arjun, whose security team is also under investigation, is accused of failing to coordinate with local authorities before his visit, resulting in the fatal rush.

The actor is facing charges under BNS Sections 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) r/w 3(5) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt).

Allu Arjun will be produced before the Court soon after a medical examination at Gandhi Hospital. He will be produced before the Magistrate at Nampally Court or later in the night at the residence of the Magistrate.

The actor had approached the Telangana High Court seeking to clear his name from the                             FIR, but it has not come up for hearing so far.
