Sir,
The very first and cover page of Star of Mysore 48th Anniversary Special Issue, published on Feb. 16, 2025, attracted me as one could not read it as an advertisement but as a letter of testimony for Star of Mysore. It is from our city’s well-known apartment builder Sankalp, headed by Dr. V.K. Jagadish Babu (Chairman and Managing Director, Sankalp Group – Housing and Infrastructure).
It is in the form of a unique letter addressed to Mysureans by a grateful reader. Hats off to the Copywriter behind it. How skilfully he has described the quality of Star of Mysore and its relationship with readers.
And note, not a single word about Sankalp’s projects in that full colour-page letter.
The second para of the letter in particular has expressed the true sentiments of Mysureans with Star of Mysore.
This takes me back to my memory of heading the Publication Division of my Department of Information and Publicity, in-charge of issuing Government Advertisements to newspapers.
The then Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde had appreciated our initiatives not to include his photo but only to tell people what his Government was doing for the people and their co-operation in an honest way. That used to be well-received by readers.
— K. Vijaya Kumar, former Jt. Director of Information & Publicity , Mysuru. 20.2.2025
NOTE: Here below we publish the full text of the unique letter by Sankalp Group for the benefit of those readers who may have missed out on this advertisement par excellence. —Ed
Dear Mysoreans,
Some things aren’t just habits; they become a part of who we are. Every evening, like so many others, we reach for our copy. It’s not just about the news but about feeling connected to Mysore, to its people, and to its soul.
For 47 years, Star of Mysore has been by our side. It has been our storyteller, our voice, and our companion. It has celebrated our triumphs, shared our concerns, and woven itself into the fabric of our lives. Through its pages, businesses have flourished, friendships have formed, and generations have grown up, finding a piece of Mysore in every word.
Even in a world of smartphones and instant news, Star of Mysore remains special and relevant, because it is ours.
Few cities in the world still cherish an evening newspaper, and we are fortunate to be one of them.
Here’s to 47 years of news, nostalgia, and togetherness.
May this tradition continue for many more years.
A grateful reader,
Sankalp
