Mysuru: Sanskrit Pathashala teachers of Mysuru division had organised ‘Samskruthotsava’ and felicitation programme at Adichunchanagiri Sanskrit Pathashala in city recently.
Karnatak Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Padma Shekar was felicitated by Adichunchanagiri Mutt Mysuru Branch Seer Sri Someshwaranatha Swamiji.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Padma Shekar opined that learners of Sanskrit would never go unemployed. She advised Sanskrit teachers to conduct more Sanskrit Communication camps for popularising the language. She said that she was retiring from service on June 15 and felt happy that she has done a good job to allow growth of Sanskrit over the last four years.
The Swamiji commended Dr. Padma Shekar for taking Sanskrit to great heights when the language was on the verge of extinction. He suggested Sanskrit teachers to mobilise more students to learn Sanskrit.
Oriental Research Institute Director Dr. S. Shivarajappa sought equal treatment for Sanskrit without any bias.
Sanskrit University Director Dr. Girish Chandra opined that existing Sanskrit Pathashalas should provide quality education which is better than allowing mushrooming of such schools just to obtain grants.
Five Sanskrit teachers — K. Madhusudan of Kadur, Madhumati of Mysuru, T.P. Channabasappa of MM Hills, Seetharama Bhat of Kollegal and M. Nandish of T. Narasipur taluk — were also felicitated on the occasion.Mysuru Division Subject Supervisor Parashiva Murthy, Regional Convenor Indireshappa and others were present.
