‘Saptapadi’ mass marriage from March

Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka Saptapadi Vivah Yojana, a popular simple mass marriage programme of the Government, will commence from  March this year.

Additional DC B.S. Manjunathaswamy held a preliminary meeting in this regard with Muzrai Department officials at the DC’s Office here recently.

Addressing the meeting, Manjunathaswamy directed the officials to make preparations for the conduct of the mass marriage programme as the Government has issued a direction in this regard. 

Pointing out that Saptapadi will be held atop Chamundi Hill on Mar.15, at Srikanteshwara Temple in Nanjangud on Apr. 22, at Mudukutore in T. Narasipur taluk on May 13, again at Chamundi Hill on June 17 and again at Nanjangud on July 7, he said that interested brides and bridegrooms can register by presenting necessary documents at the respective Taluk Office within the specified dates. 

The Additional DC directed the officials to also organise mass marriage programme at Chikkammadevibetta in H.D. Kote taluk and at Chunchanakatte in K.R. Nagar taluk and fix a date for the same. 

He further instructed the officials to look for other suitable religious places in the district for the conduct of Saptapadi.
