Sarvodaya Day observed in city

University of Mysore (UoM) Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar seen offering floral tributes to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Sarvodaya Day at a function organised by UoM at its premises this morning.  Retired Maharaja College Principal Prof. K. Kalachannegowda, Prof. R. Shivappa, Registrar and Dr. A.P. Jnana Prakash, Registrar (Evaluation), Dr. M.S. Shekar, Director, Gandhi Bhavan and others were present.  Shakuntala, a Pourakarmika, was felicitated on the occasion. It was on this day in 1948, the Mahatma was assassinated in Delhi and as a mark of respect, Jan. 30 is observed as Sarvodaya Day.
