Save Ballahalli land movement

Farmers to stage protest in front of MUDA Office on Mar. 19

Mysuru: Accusing the State Government of acquiring fertile land belonging to poor farmers at Ballahalli, farmers under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) will stage a demonstration in front of MUDA Office here on Mar. 19.

This decision was taken at a meeting of farmers at Manuvana Park opposite the City Law Courts Complex here on Tuesday.

Farmer leaders, who addressed the gathering, alleged that the Government was forcibly acquiring fertile land at Ballahalli after making amendments to Land Acquisition Act. Strongly condemning the Government’s move, the leaders said that they would not allow the Government to acquire Ballahalli land and they would launch a movement against acquisition. As a first step towards launching the movement, a massive procession will be taken out in the city after which a demonstration will be staged in front of MUDA Office on JLB Road at 11 am on Mar. 19.

The farmers will converge in the city along with their cattle for staging the demonstration. The procession will be taken out from Mahatma Gandhi bust opposite the City Law Courts Complex to the MUDA Office.

The leaders also announced that 16 branches of KRRS will be set up across the taluk in the coming days.

KRRS leaders Guruprasad, Honnur Prakash, Madralli Mahadevappa, Manjesh Gowda, Sannegowda, Ballahalli Mahadevu, Puttanna, Ramegowda, Gowhalli Nagesh, Kumarabeedu Basavaraj and others attended.
