Save Chamundi Hill: Concerned citizens’ meeting on Nov.15

Mysuru: The Institution of Engineers (India), Mysuru Local Centre, has organised a concerned citizens’ meeting on Nov.15 at 4 pm in the Institution premises on JLB Road to debate on the development activities atop Chamundi Hill, with focus on protection, preservation and conservation of the environment and heritage value of the Hill precincts, which is mostly forest land. 

The meeting will deal with the following major issues:

1. Proposed Ropeway at Chamundi Hill. 2. Proposed widening of existing two-lane roads to Chamundeshwari Temple to four-lane. 3. Construction of multi-level parking, shopping complex, etc. atop the Hill. 

4. Development of the Hill under “PRASAD” Scheme of Central Government on par with Kollur and Sringeri temples.

5. Encroachments around Chamundi Hill.

6. Construction of houses for those at Chamundi Hill. 

The meeting will attended by Maj. Gen. Sudhir Vombatkere (retd.), U.N. Ravi Kumar,  Ashvini Ranjan, Dr. N.S. Rangaraju and M. Lakshmana, who will speak on the above subjects, after which it will be open for public to express their views. The summary of the outcome at the meeting will be sent to Government of Karnataka for consideration. 

The concerned citizens may participate in the meeting, according to a press release.
