Scribes, including Mysooru Mithra Sub-Editor A.C. Prabhakar honoured

Mysooru Mithra Sub-Editor A.C. A total of 20 journalists in the State, including ‘Mysooru Mithra’ Sub-Editor A.C. Prabhakar, were honoured with ‘Madhyama Academy Awards (2016)’ by Chief Minister Siddharamaiah at a function held at Vidhana Soudha Banquet Hall here yesterday. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 20,000, a memento and a citation.

The other awardees including senior journalist from Bengaluru H.R. Sreesha, Samyukta Karnataka’s Shantala Dharmaraj, G. Veeranna of Ballari, Siddiqui Alduri of Chikkamagalur, Ronald Fernandes of Mangaluru, Chini Purushottam of Tumakuru, Ujjini Rudrappa of Koppal, Hemanth Kumar of Bengaluru, Ramaswamy of Ramanagaram, Shankarappa of Bagalakote, Hussainappa Chalavadi, Nagaraj Sunagar of Dharwad, Anil Kumar Hosamani of Vijayapura and Malatesh Angur of Haveri.

Also, ‘Andolana Award’ was presented to ‘Shivamogga Times’, ‘Abhimani Award’ to Chandrasekhar More of Udayavani, ‘Mysuru Diganta Award’ to  C.J. Rajiv of Vijaya Karnataka, ‘Aragini Award’ to cine journalist Snehapriya Nagaraj and ‘Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Mooka Nayaka Award’ to senior journalist Dr. Nataraj Huliyar, on the occasion.

The 35-year-old Karnataka Madhyama Academy recognises the efforts of senior journalists across categories and mediums.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy read out the speech copy of the Chief Minister, as CM left the venue after presenting the awards, to attend an emergency meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Academy Chairman Siddaraju said that 10 journalism students from poor  backgrounds were being given Rs. 10,000 every month for 10 months as scholarship.

Ministers Roshan Baig, Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, K.J. George, M. Krishnappa, Krishna Byregowda and M.R. Seetharam, MP P.C. Mohan and others were present.
