Helmet was on the bike fuel tank, not on victim’s head
Mysuru: A 42-year-old sculptor, identified as Krishna, was killed in a road accident on New Kantharaj Urs Road this morning. The accident occurred opposite Ramya Hotel, near the Heritage House and Saraswathipuram Fire Brigade signal.
According to eyewitnesses, Krishna, a resident of Gandhinagar, was riding his Pulsar motorcycle (KA-55-E-8723) when he attempted to pass through a narrow gap between a car parked by the roadside and a moving tipper lorry (KA-11-B-7851).
As he tried to negotiate the gap, the handlebar of his motorcycle brushed against the parked car, causing him to lose balance and fall onto the road. The tipper lorry then ran over his leg, leaving him with severe head injuries.
Eyewitnesses said Krishna had a helmet with him, but was not wearing it at the time of the accident. The helmet was placed on the fuel tank at the front of his motorcycle. He was rushed to K.R. Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police recovered two mobile phones from Krishna at the spot and used them to contact his family members. His friend and younger brother subsequently arrived at K.R. Hospital.
Krishna was working as an idol sculptor and had an office in Agrahara. According to his family members, he was on his way to inspect Navagraha stones for his work when the accident occurred.
