Security Guard injured as metal door falls on him at Rangayana

Mysuru:  A Security Guard at the theatre repertory Rangayana in Kalamandira premises was injured when the metal door of the  car shed (meant to park the car of the Director) fell on him yesterday at around 4.30 pm.

Security Guard Shesu, who is an outsourced staff was trying to close one side of the nearly 15-feet tall metal door of the shed (which is also used to park the mini bus belonging to Rangayana) when it came crashing down on him resulting in Shesu suffering injuries on his head, mouth and hand. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital at Saraswathipuram, where he went underwent a surgery.

Sources in the Kalamandira campus, speaking to Star of Mysore, alleged that the incident happened due to the negligence of Rangayana authorities as they had not bothered to get the iron doors which are almost 15 feet high repaired despite knowing that it was in a precarious condition.

Sources also pointed out that the wall adjoining the shed and the canteen has also developed cracks. With Chinnara Mela going on and hundreds of children coming to attend the camp every day, there are chances of a bigger tragedy to take place if proper precautions are not taken to repair the doors and the cracked wall  soon, sources said.
