Sedition: Nalini bail plea adjourned to afternoon

Mysore/Mysuru: The City’s Second ADJ Court adjourned the hearing on the regular bail plea filed by Nalini Balakumar, who has been booked for sedition after she displayed a ‘Free Kashmir’ placard during an anti-CAA protest at Manasagangothri recently, to today afternoon.

The bail plea came up for hearing at 11 am today with a team of lawyers headed by Senior advocate from Bengaluru C.S. Dwarakanath, who had signed the Vakalatnama, appearing on behalf of the accused Nalini.  But as Public Prosecutor M. Anand Kumar could not appear on behalf of the Government due to his other legal engagements, Judge Gerald Rudolf Mendonsa, adjourned the hearing to 3 pm.

Nalini, who has been granted an interim bail by a City Court earlier, was not present today. However, over 25 students of Manasagangothri had come to the Court out of curiosity to watch the proceedings.

It may be mentioned here that the Mysore Bar Association had  recently passed a resolution barring any member of the Association from taking up the case for Nalini. The jurisdictional Lakshmipuram Police had provided security around the Court Hall.
