Mysore/Mysuru: S. Bibi Fatima, a 15-year-old girl of the city’s Elite Academy, has been selected to take part in Karnataka Urban Games Boxing Championship to be held in Goa from Sept.10 to 12.
Announcing this at a press meet here recently, Ashodaya Samithi State Convenor Pranathi Prakash, a member of transgender community, said that another transgender community member Akram Pasha alias Shabana is taking care of Bibi Fatima since her younger days.
Pointing out that the Boxing Championship is organised jointly by Urban Games Association of Karnataka, Urban Games Federation of India and World Urban Games Federation, Pranathi Prakash said that contestants from Elite Academy, University of Mysore and Hunsur are taking part in this three-day championship in Goa.
Noting that Bibi Fatima is making her debut in the Championship, she appealed the Government, philanthropists and other donors for extending financial help to her. Donors can contact Mob: 97405-34739.
Bibi Fatima, a 9th standard student of St. Anthony’s School in Gayathripuram, has been practicing kickboxing for the past three years. She had won gold medal in a championship held at Agra and also won several contests held in Mysuru. She has the ambition of taking part in State and National-level championships.
