Selected for National Karate Championship

Deia S. Urs, a first year degree student at a private college in city, has secured two gold medals in the female individual kata category in the State Karate Championship conducted by the Akhila Karnataka Sports Karate Association (AKSKA) at V.V. Convention Hall, Uttharahalli Main Road, Bengaluru, recently.

In the U-21 category finals, Deia beat M.S. Afsara of Bengaluru 5-0 to clinch the Gold and in Senior category finals, she defeated N. Chaitrashree of Bengaluru 5-0 to take home the Gold. She will be representing the State in both the events.

Around 300 karatekas from all over Karnataka had taken part in this Championship that was held to select the best Karatekas for the upcoming National Championship. Deia is trained by her father B.S. Srinath Urs, certified and accredited national coach. Both practice under AISKU President C.S. Arun Machaiah and E.S. Kumar.
