Mysuru: Protesting against the Principal and the College management alleging that they had taken money from ineligible candidates to write the exams, a few students of Sarada Vilas Law College, wrote the exams sitting semi nude and wearing black band, here yesterday.

The authorities and many students were shocked to see a few male students entering the exam hall topless to write the Criminal Procedure Code paper for fourth semester LLB examinations.

They charged that the College Principal had allowed ‘ineligible’ candidates from Bengaluru and Kerala and a few Government employees, who had not attended a single class to write the examinations, whereas some students having 74 percent attendance were harassed.

They alleged that those ineligible students were allowed to write the examinations even though the University rules state that 75 percent attendance is compulsory. “A few of the students from outside the State gain admission to the College but do not attend classes. They pay the examination fees and appear for the examinations,” said the protesting students.

The College has a student strength of 350. However, Principal P.K. Vineetha said that the students did not inform the College of the reason for the protest.

“We allow all students to write the examinations following the rules of the University. Their charges are baseless,” she said.
