Mysore/Mysuru: A UGC-sponsored State-level seminar was held recently at JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science. The topic was “Innovations and challenges in Life Science” where Dr. Anu Appaiah, Senior Principal Scientist, Department of Microbiology and Fermentation Technology, CFTRI, addressed the gathering and emphasised on waste management.
He gave the examples of those who innovatively converted waste into wealth on the basis of global thinking and local living.
Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, highlighted the importance of innovations in different aspects of life. He also emphasised the differences between discoveries, inventions and innovations.
Prof. M .Mahadevappa, Principal, Prof. S. Prathibha, Head, UG Department of Botany and Organising Secretary of the seminar, Dr. M. S. Manjunath, Head, UG Department of Biochemistry and Convener of the seminar, B.L. Kiran, Assistant Professor, UG Depart-ment of Botany and others were present.
