Seminar on Goods and Services Tax held

Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Jayachamarajendra PU College had organised a seminar on Goods and Services Tax (GST) on Jan.1 at Dav School Auditorium. In order to educate students about the intricacies of GST, the Department of Commerce, SJPUC had organised the seminar. 

 N. Sachidananda Murthy, Chairman, SJET,  R. Anand, Secretary, SJET, S.T. Thimmaraju,  Academic Director, SJET and M.A. Jayashree, Trustee, SJET jointly inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. 

In his inaugural address, Sachidananda Murthy said that Commerce is like a new way of modern life for students to lead their lives in the best possible way. Observing that Commerce stream is gaining popularity at a rapid speed, he said that Commerce plays a tremendous role in the economic development of a country. 

V. Padmaja, HoD of Commerce, was the resource person. In her presentation, she gave an insight into development of indirect taxes in India and also explained the taxation mechanism. 

She highlighted the concepts related to GST and benefits of GST. The seminar covered various facets of newly integrated indirect tax — that is, GST.  The seminar portrayed a positive picture of GST. 

Toppers and Centum scorers in Commerce were felicitated on this occasion. 

C. Sagar Chakravarthy, Principal, In-charge, SJPUC, in his address said that Commerce stream has many options and opportunities for those who want to make their career and achieve their goals in life. 

The seminar was attended by the members of teaching and non-teaching staff and students. 

The seminar commenced with invocation by Ramyashree Sunil. M. Avinash welcomed.  S. Nikhil proposed a vote of thanks.  N. Dhananjaya compered.
