Seminar on ‘Ideologies of Ambedkar’

Mysuru:  Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS),  University of Mysore, had organised a seminar on ‘Ideologies of Dr. Ambedkar’ as part of the 128th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at its premises in Manasagangothri here on Apr. 30.

Inaugurating the programme by watering a sapling Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar opined that Ambedkar should not be remembered on just one day but eternally. He lauded the vision of Ambedkar who visualised the rights of people in voting, employment and politics stressing the importance for women. Referring to the UoM’s Kannada Encyclopaedia, the VC said that the process of compilation will restart and the mission would be accomplished soon.

Speaking as the chief guest writer Dr. Moodnakudu Chinnaswamy said that Ambedkar always fought for eradication of casteism but regretted that caste has become a very important factor now in every sector. He observed that untouchability is still in practice in India which should be totally removed.

Resource Persons spoke on various contemporary topics. KIKS Director Dr. N.M. Talwar, Folklore Head Dr. Nanjaiah Honganur and others were present.
