Senior Scientist Dr. Belagaje Krishnamurthy passes away

Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. Belagaje Krishnamurthy (79), a Senior Scientist and a resident of Vijayanagar, passed away on July 25 following cardiac arrest in city.

He leaves behind his wife Lalita Krishnamurthy, brothers, sisters and a host of students, relatives and friends. His brother Dr. Belagaje Ramamurthy was bestowed with Padma Shri award for his contribution in the field of Science and technology in 1977.

Last rites were performed at Chirashantidhama in Gokulam on July 25. 

Hailing from Panja village in Sullia taluk, Dr. Krishnamurthy completed his degree at St. Philomena’s College in Puttur and completed his Ph.D in USA. He worked as a Scientist and Professor in USA for 16 years and was honoured with the Best Teacher Award. After returning to India, Dr. Krishnamurthy served as a Professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Mysore, Mysuru.
