Mysuru: After a lull of six months, Mysureans woke up to the news of serial robbery this morning. Miscreants entered three shops in the heart of the city and made away with cash of Rs. 19 lakh.
The burglary came to light in the morning, in the three shops, opposite Prabha Theatre on Old Bank Road. The three shops are Anand Brothers a four-storey building whose owners are Satish, Santosh and Anand, the neighbouring shop Oswal Fashions owned by Naveen Kumar and next to that GM Lights whose owner is Uttam Kumar.
Burglars entered Anand Brothers and escaped with Rs. 12 lakh cash kept there. After cleaning up the cash, they exited from the rear door on the fourth floor. Moving into Oswal Fashions, they bent the grilled windows, entered and removed Rs. 3 lakh cash and left. Finally, they broke open the shutters of GM Lights and made away with cash of Rs. 4 lakh.
When owners of Anand Brothers opened the shop in the morning, to their shock they found the cash missing from the cash box. The other two shop owners also found to their dismay that the cash had been looted from their shops too.
The Police was alerted immediately. Devaraja Sub-Division ACP B.S. Rajashekar, Lashkar Police Inspector H.M. Kantharaju, Finger Print City Unit ACP Rajashekar, Sub Inspector Appaji Gowda and the dog squad rushed to the spot and conducted a mazhar.
According to the Police, it looked like an insider’s job as the miscreants had escaped from the rear door in the fourth floor of Anand Brothers. And, since, only cash and not any other item was looted, it pointed to the job of charlatans who knew the presence of cash, said inspector Kantharaju.
