Server Crash: Property registration work comes to a grinding halt; people left in lurch

Mysuru: Revenue collection, stamps and registration and property registration process in all 14 Sub-Registrar Offices in city and across the District has come to a grinding halt since yesterday morning.  Reason: Frequent server crashes caused by glitches at the main server in Bengaluru. The server is maintained and operated by Karnataka State Wide Area Network (KSWAN).

Since yesterday morning, the registration process has been hampered due to intermittent technical issues and hundreds of people were severely inconvenienced.

While the officials pacified them yesterday, the server crashed even today either slowing down the work or closing it completely. By afternoon, the process picked up as the server was restored but the service was not smooth due to frequent fluctuations.

Services were affected in all Sub-Registrar Offices like Mysuru South, Mysuru North, Mysuru East, Mysuru West and MUDA Office and registration offices at T. Narasipura, Bannur, Nanjangud, H.D. Kote, Hunsur, Periyapatna, Bettadapura, K.R. Nagar and Mirle in rural areas.  

People including women, children and the elderly who had come from various villages, towns and other far-flung areas returned home empty handed without registering their properties.

Officials told Star of Mysore that the Department, every day, generates a revenue of Rs. 2 crore to the Government at all Sub-Registrar Offices in Mysuru. The department issues nearly 60 property registration documents every day. It collects stamp duty, registration fee, cess charges and scanning fees from the property registrars.            

Due to technical glitches in KSWAN network, people-friendly measures like public data entry system, which enables users to fill applications related to sale, gift and other transactions online before visiting the Sub-Registrar Offices for registration and paying property registration fees to the respective banks after generating challan services were also affected.
