Mysuru: The Anthropological Survey of India, Southern Regional Centre (SRC), Mysuru, celebrated International Women’s Day 2025 with an insightful event at SRC Auditorium.
The highlight of the occasion was an invited lecture on ‘Is Women Empowerment a Myth or Reality?’ by Prof. S. Swarnamala from the Department of Physics, Yuvaraja’s College, Mysuru, who is the Former Secretary of the Women’s Harassment Enquiry Committee, University of Mysore.
The inaugural session featured the presence of Dr. M. Sasikumar, Joint Director, Anthropological Survey of India; Dr. Harashawaradhana, Deputy Director and Head of Office; and C.S. Sudarshana, Principal of Pramathi Hill View Academy, along with 70 women teachers who actively participated in the event.
During her lecture, Prof. Swarnamala critically examined the state of women’s empowerment, highlighting its achievements and ongoing challenges. The session concluded with an interactive discussion where teachers engaged in thought-provoking conversations with the speaker on gender issues and the steps needed to accelerate equality.
Dr. M. Sasikumar delivered the concluding remarks, while Dr. Harashawaradhana extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The event wrapped up with a vote of thanks by Rakhi Kumari. Banita Behera coordinated the programme.
