Seven burglars arrested

  • 34 cases including five from Mysuru solved
  • Electronic goods worth more than Rs. 60 lakh recovered

Mandya: The Mandya Police have arrested seven burglars on charges of committing burglaries in various districts of the State and have succeeded in solving 34 cases including five cases from Mysuru.

Disclosing this at a press meet on Tuesday, Mandya Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Parashuram said that the arrested have been identified as 39-year-old C. Ravikumar of Chakenahalli in Nagamangala taluk, 33-year-old S.R. Manjunath of Sunagahalli in Mandya taluk, 33-year-old S.P. Nagaraju, 27-year-old C.B. Hemanth Kumar, 46-year-old N.Y. Ramakrishna of Kamakshi Palya in Bengaluru, 39-year-old B.G. Venkatesh of Annapoorneshwarinagar in Bengaluru, and 50-year-old Sadiq of V.V. Puram in Mandya. Efforts are being made to nab one more accused, who is absconding.

During interrogation, the Police came to know that accused Ravikumar was involved in four cases including murder and kidnap. He, along with Manjunath, Nagaraju and Hemanth Kumar, had committed burglaries at various schools in Mandya, Ramanagar, Mysuru, Hassan and Tumakuru districts. 

Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered 160 computers, 16 batteries, three television sets, three washing machines, three photocopy machines, a printer and a car, all worth more than   Rs. 61 lakh, from them. The Police have also seized a Scorpio SUV, a Bolero goods vehicle and a Tata Sumo used for the crime. Other accused, Venkatesh, Sadiq and Ramakrishna were buying the stolen goods from them and selling them at cheaper price.

Following their arrest, the Police have solved 34 cases — five cases each in Mysuru and Tumakuru, one each in Ramanagar and Bengaluru Urban, two in Hassan and 20 cases in Mandya.

The SP said that all accused were subjected to COVID tests and more information would be collected during further interrogation. Circle Inspector K. Santosh, N.V. Mahesh, Dy.SP L. Naveen Kumar and others were present during the press meet.
