Mysore/Mysuru: Urging the Government for fulfilment of their various demands, several Organisations and Associations staged protests near the Office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in city this morning.
Increase honorarium: About 80 members of Karnataka Rajya Samyukta ASHA Workers Association under the banner of All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC) staged a protest demanding increase in the honorarium and to implement the allocations provided in the budget among others.
Stating that ASHA workers played a major role during the COVID-19 pandemic that is still prevailing in the State, the protestors said that the honorarium paid to them was very less making it difficult for them to lead a normal life. They demanded that the honorarium be increased to Rs. 12,000 to help them lead a better life and warned of stopping their work from July 10 if their demands were not met. The protestors later submitted a memorandum to Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) B.R. Poornima.
ASHA Workers Association District President R. Shubhamangala, District Secretary Komala, office-bearers Sandhya, Sunitha, Seema, Yashodhara and others were present.
Scrap illegal appointments: Another group of nearly 80 persons under the banner of Dalitha Sangarsha Samithi (DSS) and Unorganised Pourakarmika Workers Association, demanding scraping of illegal appointments of Pourakarmikas at T. Narasipur Municipal Council, staged a protest near the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
They alleged that six persons have been illegally appointed as Pourakarmikas at T.Narasipur Municipal Council and were drawing salaries and added that though there were senior Pourakarmikas, they were not considered for the appointment.
The protestors demanded suspension of all six persons who were appointed illegally and appoint Pourakarmikas on seniority basis. A memorandum was submitted to ADC Poornima.
DSS State Convenor Harihara Anandaswamy, District Convenor Dr. Chandrashekar, Pailwan Krishna, Nagaraj, D.N. Babu and others were present.
COVID relief package: About 30 members of Karnataka State Unaided Schools and Colleges Teaching Faculty Association, demanding announcement of COVID relief package to them staged a protest in city this morning. The members who assembled near the DC Office staged a protest and also demanded the private and unaided school managements and the Government to take steps to protect their health besides demanding free treatment to them if they contract Coronavirus. They also demanded the COVID relief be paid to them from the Teachers’ Welfare Fund and Students’ Welfare Fund.
Association President Rajashekar Murthy, Vice-President Anthony Paul Raj and others took part in the dharna.
