Farmers stage protest against amendment to Land Reforms Act

Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly condemning the amendments to Karnataka Land Reforms Act, farmers under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Virodhi Kaide Horata Samithi, staged a demonstration in front of the Regional Commissioner’s office here on Monday.

Maintaining that the amendments to the Land Reforms Act will sound a death knell to the farming community, the farmers who held sticks to register their protest, alleged that the amendments are aimed at favouring the corporates, landsharks and the rich. Arguing that the amendments will break the backbone of the farming community, the protestors urged the Government to immediately repeal the amendments to the Act. Earlier, the farmers took out a bike rally from the Samithi office located near Gun House on Nanjangud road to the Regional Commissioner’s office, passing through Basaveshwara Circle, Sayyaji Rao road, K.R.Circle, D.Devaraj Urs road, JLB road, Metropole Circle and Hunsur road.

Samithi Chief Convenor Kurubur Shanthakumar, office-bearers Attahalli Devaraj, Vidyasagar, Guruprasad were present.
