Madikeri: The Virajpet Second Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a CRPF Soldier to 20 years imprisonment and has imposed a fine of Rs. 96,000 after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor girl last year.
The CRPF Soldier who has been sentenced is C.B. Nithin, a resident of Manandawadi in Kerala. The accused, on Mar. 12, 2019, had sexually assaulted a minor girl at Puligeri village in Virajpet taluk and had also threatened to kill her.
Based on the complaint by the victim’s mother, Madikeri City Circle Inspector Nagegowda, conducted investigation and submitted a charge-sheet to the Court.
Judge B.G. Rama, who heard the arguments from both sides on Jan. 20, found the accused guilty of committing the offence and sentenced him to 20 years jail besides imposing a fine of Rs. 96,000 out of which Rs. 80,000 has been ordered to be given to the victim as compensation.
