Mysore/Mysuru: As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and as per the initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, more than 26,000 martyrs from across the country are being honoured with the ‘Plaque of Gratitude’ under the nationwide flagship programme of National Cadet Corps (NCC) titled ‘Shaheedon Ko Shat Shat Naman.’
This event to honour the supreme sacrifices made by the fallen heroes in defending the nation commenced on Jan. 26, 2022 and the NCC plans to present this plaque to the next of kin of all martyrs by Aug. 15, 2022, across the country.
On Friday (Apr. 29), a ceremony was organised at 14 Kar Bn NCC, Mysuru, to present the ‘Plaque of Gratitude’ to the parents of late Sepoy B.K. Sudheer, Sena Medal (Posthumous) from Swarnasandra in Mandya and to the parents of late Sapper G. Sharath of Vasanthnagar in Mysuru.
The ‘Plaques of Gratitude’ were presented by Colonel Manish Prasad, Commanding Officer of the 14 Karnataka Battalion and Administrative Officer Col. Kirti Singh Bisht on behalf of PM Modi. Also, the 1 Karnataka Artillery Battery NCC Group, Mysuru, presented the ‘Plaque of Gratitude’ to the next of kin of late Sepoy P.N. Mahesha and Sepoy Sundra, both from H.D. Kote. Colonel R.R. Menon, Group Commander, Mysuru Group NCC, CUO Swagat and Lieutenant Colonel Vishal Mishra, Officer Commanding 1 Art. Bty, NCC, attended the programme launched as part of the celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ coinciding with the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.
