Shelve Group Housing Project at Gokulam: Residents

Sir,

Apropos to the report “MUDA’s Group Housing at Gokulam opposed” (SOM dated 21st April), we totally agree with Venkatachala, former Corporator and Madhu of City Co-operative Bank in opposing the proposed construction of cluster houses in Gokulam 3rd Stage.

The field around the MysoreOne Centre is a beautiful open space only one-of-its-kind in this layout. From the time the layout was formed in the early 70s, this has remained as an open field providing sufficient lung space.

Before the onset of COVID 19 children were seen in plenty playing various sports like Football, Cricket, Badminton etc. Even now a few of them are still playing.

Apart from this senior citizens are using the field for their morning walk. The proposed project of constructing an unimaginable 1,100 houses not only makes it a concrete jungle but adds to the woes of the residents in making the narrow roads of Gokulam 3rd Stage still worse for a smooth traffic.

Considering all these facts we the residents of Gokulam 3rd Stage request the MUDA authorities to drop this unscientific project once and for all and leave the open space as a sports field developing it further with fencing and flood lighting it.
