Shoppers throng markets for fruits and vegetables

Mysore/Mysuru: With Varamahalakshmi festival being celebrated on Friday, Devaraja and Mandi Markets in city witnessed huge rush this morning as shoppers thronged these markets for purchase of fruits and vegetables for the festival.

While most shoppers thronged the markets to avoid rush on the eve and on the day of the festival, others too thinking the same rushed to the markets which witnessed huge rush and maintaining social distancing was out of question. Though flower vendors were shifted to JK Grounds to avoid rush, the markets still witnessed rush.    

The prices of fruits and vegetables (per kg) today are as follows: Apple- Rs. 130 – 200, Sweet Lime – Rs. 80-120, Pomegranate – Rs. 100 – 120, Nanjangud Rasabale – Rs. 80-100, Elakki banana – Rs. 60 and Pineapple was being sold at Rs. 20 each.

Coconut was being sold from Rs. 25-35 each depending on the size, beans was sold at Rs. 40 per kg, carrot- Rs. 40, Avarekai – Rs. 30 – Rs. 40, ladies finger – Rs. 30 and cucumber was being sold at Rs. 5 each. Huge rush is also expected tomorrow at all the markets in city.
