Mysuru: Officials of the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) are said to be contemplating on introducing short-term membership for ‘Trin Trin’ for tourists in consultation with representatives of Green Wheel Ride, the agency operating the Public Bicycle Sharing (PBS) System in city.
A meeting in this regard was presided over by Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, who is also the Chairman of the PBS Monitoring Committee, at his office here on Saturday last.
At present PBS System offers membership valid for a minimum of one month against a refundable deposit of Rs. 250, a processing fee of Rs. 50 and a user fee of Rs. 50.
However, the scheme does not benefit tourists who prefer borrowing bicycles for commuting in city for one day to three days. If that decision is taken, the tourists cannot keep the bicycles overnight but instead return them to any docking station.
A decision is likely to be taken shortly to facilitate tourists during the ensuing Dasara. The officials have to finalise on the documents to be collected from tourists for short-term membership. Incidentally, the registration for Trin Trin has crossed 5,400 with 800 bicycles being borrowed daily, according to sources.
