Shravana Rangotsava from Aug. 15

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of its 31st anniversary, GPIER Theatre Group, Mysuru, has organised a three-day Shravana Rangotsava at  Kiru Rangamandira in Kalamandira from Aug. 15 to 17.

Renowned Music Director Dr. Hamasalekha will inaugurate the theatre festival at 6 pm tomorrow. MLA K. Harishgowda, film actor Rishi and Rangayana senior actor Geetha Montadka will be the chief guests. Kannada and Culture Department Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjunswamy will preside. GPIER Director Mime Ramesh will be present.

The valedictory of the theatre festival will be held on Aug. 17 at 6 pm. Former Rangayana Director Janardhan (Janni), B.M. Ramachandra of Rajeshwari Vastralankara, Theatre Director Mohanachandra  Urva, Playwright Sujatha Akki, Mysuru Zilla Havyasi Rangakarmigala Vedike President Rajesh H. Talkad and Film Director Siddegowda   will be present.

All plays during the three-day festival will be staged at 7 pm every day. Tickets for each play are priced at Rs. 100 while season tickets for all three plays will be Rs. 250.

Aug. 15:  Staging of play Hesare Illadavaru, Troupe: Rangapayana, Bengaluru, Written and Directed by Rajaguru Hosakote.

Aug. 16: Theatre songs by Rajaguru Hosakote and troupe, 5.30 pm. Play: Ward No. 6, Troupe: GPIER, Mysuru, Written by Pavlovich Chekhov, Translation to Kannada by D.R. Nagaraj, Designed and Directed by Mime Ramesh.

Aug. 17: Staging of play Ashwathama Not Out, Troupe: Aayana Natakada Mane, Mangaluru, Designed and Directed by Mohanachandra Urva.
