‘Siddantha Keerti’ award to Dr. Padma Shekar

Ripponpet (Shivamogga): Dr. Padma Shekar, retired Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka Sanskrit University, has been selected for ‘Siddantha Keerti’ award given by Hombuja Mutt. The award carries a purse of Rs. 51,000.

Announcing this to media at the Mutt premises recently, Devendra Keerti Bhattaraka Swamiji said that the award will be presented at a religious function to be held on Mar. 21 on the occasion of the Annual Maharatha Yatra Mahotsav.

“Dr. Padma Shekar has authored several books after in-depth study and research in Kannada, Sanskrit and English. In addition, she has carried out extensive studies on Prakrit and Jain literature. Under her leadership, 6,000 manuscripts have been digitised. She has also mentored may Ph.D researchers in Jain, Kannada and Folk literature apart from presenting essays,” the Swamiji said.
