Bengaluru: With the Assembly elections just a few months away, former CM and senior Congress leader Siddharamaiah is likely to contest from Kolar Assembly Constituency.
A Congress delegation led by former Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar met Siddharamaiah, who is the current Opposition leader in the State capital Bengaluru on Thursday and urged him to contest from Kolar, to which the senior Congress leader is said to have responded positively.
Siddharamaiah, the sitting MLA from Badami in Bagalkot district, was toying with the idea of contesting from any of the six seats — Badami, Kolar, Varuna, Chamarajapet in Benglauru, Chikkanayakanahalli and Koppal, for sometime now. But after the meeting with Ramesh Kumar, Siddharamaiah is said to be seriously considering to contest from Kolar Assembly segment which has a sizeable population of Kuruba community to which he belongs and minorities. Also, the sitting JD(S) MLA from Kolar K. Srinivas Gowda, who has stayed away from his party, too has appealed the former CM to contest from Kolar, for which he is willing to extend all support.
Meanwhile, in another development, several Congress party workers from Kolar arrived in Mysuru this morning (Oct. 28) and met Siddharamaiah when he was on a morning walk at a park near Vivekananda Circle, in order to convince him to contest from Kolar only.
